There was no cell phone at that time, and the address on the island was very vague, and a recipient often had to be found for several days. But Xie Jian said that the ecstasy or crying of people when receiving the letter moved him: “This is the motivation for me to persevere. Green military camps and green postal services are both green homes serving the people and serving the people, and I am used to this environment.” Xie Jian recalled that one winter night in December 2003, a Hong Kong fishing boat was suspended from Wailingding Island. A crew member knocked on Xie Jian’s door in the middle of the night, saying that a package was in a hurry to send it home, but he really couldn’t do it. In recent years, he has submitted nearly 30 suggestions on economic development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and infrastructure construction in remote areas. He said: “The essence of postal work is to serve the people. By becoming a NPC deputy, you can better serve the people and do your work more properly.”
Xie Jian proposed to build in 2020It is proposed that we hope to make good use of marine resources in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to accelerate economic development, and we call for the rational use of rich coastal sea areas and tidal flat resources to develop marine aquaculture industry. This suggestion was actively responded by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and it was clear that it would continue to support the development of offshore aquaculture in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to the deep sea and accelerate the construction of marine ranches. Under his guidance, island fishermen jointly established a blue ocean breeding company in the past two years, and the results were good.
At the National People’s Congress and the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference at the beginning of this year, Xie Jian also suggested accelerating the promotion of island tourism in coastal areas of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and promoting free yachts in Hong Kong and Macao.
