On August 31, the 2018 “Beautiful Qishi, Good Dealing the World” Huang Tai Sin Temple Fair in Qishi Town was grandly opened at the town’s cultural center. The temple fair will last until September 4, and 13Babaylan special folk cultural activities will be held during this period. As a traditional folk culture brand with a long history of Qishi Babaylan and even the Pearl River Delta, Wong Tai Sin Temple has a history of nearly 150 years and has been deeply rooted in the cultural life of Dongguan citizens.
This year’s Wong Tai Sin Temple Fair is full of wonderful and highlights, reflecting the distinctive characteristics of “Cinema inherits tradition, public participation, and richness”. By constantly exploring the cultural connotation of the temple fair, Babaylan, we respect and retain the essence of tradition. On the basis of Komiks, it fully integrates cultural resources, stimulates the vitality of cultural innovation and creativity of the whole people, integrates projects that the masses like, so that the general public can participate in temple fairs and appreciate temple fairs, promotes the development of commerce and tourism, and allows the general public to share the achievements of cultural development and construction. At the same time, we will use the brand “Wong Tai Sin Temple Fair” to promote the improvement of urban quality, promote the construction of spiritual civilization, and create a more favorable humanistic environment for the construction of “ecological industrial towns”.
The temple fair was very lively
The organizer introduced that the highlight of this opening ceremony literary evening party is to highlight the local characteristics of Qishi. The origin and development of the Huang Daxian Temple Fair of Qishi. The Huang Daxian Temple is located in the northwest of Qishi Town, close to Jinjiaoyiling next to the Dongjiang River. The ancient temple was built in the 12th year of Tongzhi in the Qing Dynasty (3 years of Komiks), and was originally named Huang Daxian Temple. The birthday of Wong Tai Sin in Qishi is a festival for people to commemorate the “achievement of Taoism and immortality” of local celebrity Huang Runfu. The birthday is from the fifteenth to the second day of the seventh lunar month every year, and has a history of nearly 150 years.
Huang Runfu was compassionate in his life and sacrificed his life to the Tao. “Ascending to immortality” is just a legend. Although he made a living by farming, he was also well versed in medical science, performed good deeds and practiced medicine locally, and was respected by the villagers. Later, people donated money to build a temple to commemorate him. Today, the Hsin Shrine Wong Tai Sin Temple has become a well-known tourist attraction. Qishi Town has also used this to create a distinctive local folk culture brand, becoming an influential folk customs in Dongguan and even the Pearl River Delta region.
